POLICE have warned residents to be vigilant after a teenage girl and a five-year-old boy were approached and asked if they wanted to get into a white van.

The17-year-old girl and the boy were walking their dogs along Roman Road in Caerwent just before 6pm when they say they were approached by an elderly lady who came out of a nearby public toilet and asked if they wanted to get into a nearby parked white van.

There was a “scruffy”, man in the vehicle which is described as having dark windows at the rear and driver’s side. The elderly lady is described as wearing a long purple coat with big buttons and a purple hat and smart shoes.

The 17-year-old and 5-year-old were unharmed and made their way home.

If anyone has any information about the incident they are asked to call 101 and quote log number 403 17/4/14.

I agree, theres nothing funny about it, however the description of the woman and the part she played is decidedly sinister and creepy, especially if she is doing it for her son!

I totally agree with you, any normal person would neither make jokes about child abduction nor laugh at them.

There's a strange disparity in this incident. Given the wide diffference in the ages of the two involved, it seems unlikely that they would both be considered appealing by the same sick individual. Hard to explain clearly what I mean but it definitely strikes me as odd.
