ASPIRING stockbrokers took top honours at a challenge that recreated the intensity of the Stock Exchange trading floor.

St Joseph’s RC High School in Pencarn Way, Newport, pipped Year 10 pupils from Mary Immaculate High School in Cardiff to the post, by raising a total of £75,300 in “shares”.

The winning team featured five pupils from the school, Bethan Doughty, Cerys Walsh, Rebecca Jervis, Niamh Bushe and Rebecca Harper, with Niamh also winning the top prize in the media analysis category.

Miss Walsh said: “We really enjoyed taking part. It was an exciting day and we enjoyed getting into each of the roles and working as part of a team. It was an intense day but we had so much fun.”

The Stock Market Challenge took place at Cardiff School of Management on April 3 with backing from HSBC and First Campus.
