A HAMMER-wielding robber threatened staff at a Newport shop yesterday afternoon before making off with cash from the tills.
These CCTV images show the moment the man entered the Spar store in the city's Clytha Park Road, and issuing threats from behind the counter while terrified staff remonstrate with him.
The armed robbery took place at around 3pm. No one was injured and the man left having taken an amount of money from the tills.
He is described as being white and in his late forties, approximately six feet three inches tall, and of medium build.
He had scruffy, dark but greying hair. He was clean shaven and spoke with a Newport accent. The man was wearing a scruffy black hip length jacket, black baggy tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.
Anyone who recognises the man or has any information about the incident is asked to ring 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, quoting log number 287-03/05/14.
