UPDATE: 3.52pm

MEMBERS of Newport City Gaming, where Jessica was a regular visitor, met at the Atlantica bar in Newport on Tuesday, holding a minute's silence for their friend.

A fellow gamer, who described her as the “best friend he ever had,” organised a minute silence in her memory.

He said he decided to organise the silence as Jess was a member of Newport City Games and used to go there quite often.

Friend Bethan Williams, 18, said she met her as a student at Coleg Gwent's Nash campus where Jess was studying ICT.

“She was a really bubbly, happy girl,” she said.

“She liked to party.

“I have known her for about three years now through college and she came to a lot of the video game events as a member of Newport City Games.

“We would meet up every day and just chill.

“Her birthday is on May 22 where she would have been 22 -years-old and she made me promise that I would go out for it - so we will.

“She was really funny, the things she would come out with, she had me in stitches.

“When I found out what had happened I couldn’t breathe - I just collapsed. She was too young.”

Managing director of Newport City Games Jason Reilly has also been left devastated.

“I have known her since Halloween last year,” he said.

“We do a lot of events and she started turning up to the events.

“She wasn’t a big gamer but she was a party person.”

Mr Reilly said that she was also a very generous person.
