A GWENT Labour MP said he won’t resort to name-calling after a Welsh Tory MP called him a “silly boy” and “inept”.
Guto Bebb made the comments on Twitter after Chris Evans talked about housing benefit cuts, known widely as the bedroom tax, during a parliamentary debate.
Mr Bebb wrote: “Islwyn MP inept in Welsh Grand. Claimed his pensioners suffering due to bedroom tax. They are excluded. Silly boy.”
On Wednesday, Mr Evans told Welsh Grand Committee that it was “heartbreaking to tell someone in their 70s or 80s they must move out of the three-bedroom house they brought their family up in.”
Wales Office minister Stephen Crabb intervened and said pensioners were exempt.
Mr Evans added: “Perhaps I should not have said those in their 70s or 80s, but those in their 50s and 60s.”
The Islwyn MP yesterday told the Argus: “ I am more interested in helping my constituents than indulging in name-calling.”
