A NEW law to transform the way social services are delivered in Wales will be introduced in April 2016, deputy minister for social services Gwenda Thomas, has announced.
The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 received Royal Assent last week, and is designed to radically change the way social services are delivered by focusing on promoting the welfare of individuals.
It will introduce a strong statutory framework for the protection of adults, and seek to ensure people have access to clear information, advice and assistance, placing their voice and rights at the centre of decisions about their care and support.
“The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 will have a direct impact on the lives of many of our citizens, if not most of them,” said Mrs Thomas, as she announced when the Act will be introduced.
