A MAN has been left with serious injuries after becoming trapped in machinery in Newport today.

Fire crews from Maindee and Malpas responded to a report of a casualty trapped in machinery in Caswell Way, Newport at 3.18pm.

A spokesman from South Wales Fire and Rescue said: “One male casualty was released prior to arrival of fire service.Crews assisted medics at the scene.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 15.08hrs today to an incident in Caswell Way, Newport. A male in his 40s was conveyed to the Royal Gwent Hospital with serious injuries."
