ONE of Torfaen's most popular and well loved attractions has been recognised at the prestigious Netmums Outdoor Play Awards.

Greenmeadow Community Farm in Cwmbran clinched one of the top spots after being voted for by members of Britain’s biggest parenting site Netmums.com.

Set in more than 120 acres, Greenmeadow has a wide range of pedigree and rare breed animals and attracts more than 60,000 visitors a year.

Farm director Sally Partridge said: “It’s wonderful to be recognised for what we do.

“Our whole staff team are passionate about making farming experiences accessible to children and their families.

“We hope to welcome even more families after being recognised by Netmums as one of the regions’ best outdoor attractions.”

The farm is more than 250 years old and was rescued by a group of local residents around 25 years ago from becoming a housing development and turned into a community farm for visitors from far and wide.

Daily activities include milking demonstrations and tractor and trailer rides and lots of additional activities during school holidays, as well as seasonal events throughout the year.

Margam Country Park won the awards for Wales and Greenmeadow was one of the runners-up.

The farm will receive a special certificate to display at the venue, an exclusive badge for their website listing and free advertising on Netmums.

Netmums.com local editor, Angharad Westmore, said: "We are so lucky to have lots of fantastic outdoor venues to choose from, but mums and dads rated Greenmeadow Community Farm as somewhere extra special. It’s fantastic to know children can enjoy the great outdoors safely and happily at such a lovely venue."
