What a complete disgrace this story is, officers attending an incident attacked for protecting the public. Where was the Blaenau Gwent Council's Cctv cameras during all this, transfered to Newport, that's where, not working, unable to be used due to the Council cutbacks. Blaenau Gwent Council should hold their heads in shame although I doubt they care, shocking

The councils decision to move the CCTV to Newport to save money is not going to benefit Blaenau Gwent. Not only are they being operated by staff who are unfamiliar with the local area, they also have the existing CCTV in Newport t to deal with. How many more incidents like this will there be while the cameras are out of use?

and the police wouldnt lie .nor over exaggerate the incident either . i cant for the life of me understand what on earth the police were doing to infuriate members of the public to become involved as well. all three officers attended the hospital for treatment to their injuries but thankfully they were found not to have any and were discharged .

My sympathies go out to the injured officers and their families, there job is hard enough without low life scum attacking them in the course of their duties, I hope they throw the book at them. On a separate note how is it that Blaenau Gwent Council has moved their CCTV system to Newport without any sort of consultation with the public, surely the CCTV cameras are there to protect the citizens of the borough, obviously the powers that be at the council don't care too much for the safety of their tax payers. Maybe the leader of the Council would like to comment on the situation, I for one would be interested to hear why this situation has arisen. If as stated in a previous post that none of the cameras captured the incident what on earth are the council playing at, council taxes are rising yet we have less and less services provided by the council, maybe the Council can now see the importance of a fully functioning CCTV control room . I await a response from the Council, I won't hold my breath tho.

Try reading the story or get someone with a bit of patience to explain it to you. How do you know that the police were not injured? Also, how many members of the public do you know, who at one o'clock in the morning, would have the utter stupidity to get involved in this kind of incident in the first place, without perhaps a good dose of artificial courage in the form of drink and drugs in them? I will wait for the actual facts to emerge regarding this story, but already have a strong feeling that your comments are going to sound extremely crass, foolish and infantile.

Yes I agree with everything you say other than it being the council's fault. The Council had no intention of keeping the Cctv in house and couldn't get it out the door quick enough, without any thought as to whether it would work or not, if the cameras had been operational then that incident may not have happened and even if it did, the footage would have been captured and the Police would not have had to ask for witnesses, a picture paints a thousand words remember. So unfortunately it is the council's fault 100%

The fool concerned appears to be the type of person who would see a serious injury to a young woman defending our peace and property as a positive thing, whilst he or she is meanwhile safely tucked up in bed. The fool would also probably accuse other independent witnesses, such as the staff at the hospital who treated her injuries as yet more liars and conspiracy agents.

I think you are seriously miss informed, u think the officers assaulted themselves do u, they sustained their injuries from the fists and feet from the low life vermin who carried out that cowardly attack on 2 women and male officers. They are someone's daughters and son, they have young children themselves maybe and you have the gall to say they made up the injuries. What a very sad sad person you are. You obviously have no respect for authority or the law. I suggest you rethink some of the idiotic comments you have made cos your just showing yourself up with your ridiculous statements

So what part of your statement was the truth cos I can assure you the things stated in the article about 3 officers being assaulted and injured was the truth. The officers were hospitalised, fact. The officers were injured, fact yet again. One of the officers attacked sustained a fractured jaw, yet again fact. So please enlighten us to the falsehoods in the article because I fail to see your point or the fact you trivialise 3 officers hurt in the line of duty by several low life scum , who with any luck will feel the full force of the law and find their freedom and their liberties taken away from them for a very long time indeed.
