A WELSH language rally and discussion will take place near Newport railway station tomorrow at 11am outside the Information Station on the Queensway.

Hopefully someone will come and re-draw the borders. I can't be bothered with all this nationalistic nonsense being forced down my throat.

75,000 Welsh speakers in Gwent? Ha! I don't think being able to say Bore Da, or knowing that Gwasanathae, or however its spelt, means motorway services, qualifies you as a Welsh speaker.

Welsh is now the smallest minority language spoken in Newport, so why on earth do we allow these senseless little indulgences? If the Polish community assembled a rally n the way the Tafia here are proposing, there would be a riot!

"Cymdeithas yr Iaith) is a non-violent direct action pressure group in Wales campaigning for the right of Welsh people to use the Welsh language in every aspect of their lives"
"The Society's first public protest took place in October 1962 at Pont Trefechan in Aberystwyth, where around seventy members and supporters held a 'sit-in' blocking road traffic for half an hour."

"Typical actions by the group include painting slogans on buildings owned by businesses, and other minor criminal damage."
All "non-violent" of course!

"The Society was founded on August 4 , 1962 during Summer School Plaid in Pontarddulais"
It was started by a group of disillusioned (supported) students from Aberystwyth and Bangor.

On 24 July 2004 (five weeks after launching), Radio Carmarthenshire's studios in Narberth were invaded by eleven activists from the Welsh language Society Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraege. The offices and studios were stormed during a live broadcasts, taking Radio Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire off air for 15 minutes. The head of sales was injured, and needed hospital treatment for a fractured wrist during the scuffles which ensued. Police arrested eleven activists, and subsequently released them pending further enquiries. The station branded the members of the group as "terrorists".
All "non-violent" of course.......

Since then they have gone everywhere protesting, except where they started from........

Cymdeithas yr Iaith, er,no, I dont think so!

Diolch yn fawr, bore da...............

I applaud their right. But if they want anything from me they'd best use the other language they all know. And stop forcing our kids to learn it. Let them have the 'right to choose'. Or are some rights not permitted?

More to the point who is paying for the crowd control?
Scout parades have to have volunteer marshalls because of costs involving policing the events. Any volunteers?

Why redraw the borders? Why don't you just go and live in England if you are wishing the borders be redrawn?
