A MOTHER and daughter were rescued from a fire in the Crindau area of Newport last night.

Firefighters were called at around 8.00pm to Agincourt Street and the pair were rescued with a seven metre ladder.

Both are said to be safe.

Crews from Malpas, Maindee and Duffryn tackled the fire, which started on the ground floor.
