A NEWPORT conveyancer has been put through his paces this month by the Newport Gwent Dragons ahead of his 'Wall of Death' challenge.

Convey Law conveyancer Geraint Aubrey will undertake the ‘Wall of Death’ Three Peaks Challenge in the Alps on August 23 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

As part of his training Mr Aubrey was invited to attend a training session and run through some drills with the Newport Gwent Dragons and their Strength and Conditioning Coach, Simon Church.

The session took place at the new state of the art training facility in Ystrad Mynach where Mr Aubrey was taken through a gruelling set of exercises designed to test his fitness before the expedition in August.

On the expedition he will need to tackle three peaks in the Swiss Alps, each at over 13,000ft above sea level and all in consecutive days.

Mr Aubrey said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Simon, Kingsley and the team at the Dragons.

“Today was a fantastic experience and I have certainly picked up some useful tips for my training.

“I would also like to thank Convey Law also for organising this opportunity and for their continued fundraising support.”

The Newport based convayencer will be sleeping on the mountain before setting out for up to 12 hours of endurance climbing each day in the hopes of raising over £20,000.00 for Cancer Research UK with his employers, Newport Property Lawyers, Convey Law sponsoring over £8,000.00 already towards the cause.

Simon Church, Strength and Conditioning Assistant at the Dragons said:

"The challenge that Geraint is undertaking is phenomenal.

“He will need a large amount of physical endurance to complete it and today’s session will hopefully prepare him for just how tough the climbs will be in August.

“Geraint has obviously taken his training seriously and gotten himself into a very good condition already, he performed very well this afternoon.”
