A YOUNG Newport County fan decided to show his support for the team by recreating Rodney Parade in Lego.

It took him around 10 hours to build but Marc Peplow, 13, said that he enjoyed every minute of making the stadium.

This is not the first time that Marc, from Newport, has built a stadium. He was previously inspired to build Wembley Stadium after Newport County beat Wrexham and won promotion to League Two last year at the famous ground.

He said: “Since I was about seven I have been going to County games with my older brother and my dad, and around the same age I got Lego, so I have always built stadiums.”

Marc said: “Rodney Parade was quite challenging as I didn’t have all of the right shape or coloured pieces so I had to improvise.

“On the away stand I only had grey flat pieces, so my sister helped me to paint them green.”

The St Joseph’s High School pupil, who was awarded a certificate for being the keenest football fan at the school, said that the two-tier Hazell Stand and the Bisley Stand were difficult.

He spent three to four hours a day over three days creating the stadium, and was disappointed when he first realised he had spelt ‘Hazell’ wrong on the stand.

But a quick re-work and he is now happy with the piece.

He said: “People have commented that they are impressed with it and some of the players have seen it and said it was a quality effort.

“I might carry on doing little improvements, but I want to move on to making Wrexham’s stadium, one of County’s rivals.”
