ALL Welsh workers should receive a living wage, Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood has said.
Such a policy “would make Wales a beacon of economic fairness, and would be an important step in making Wales a high-value, high-quality business location, she claimed.
Speaking ahead of an Assembly debate on the topic, Ms Wood said: “Plaid Cymru’s living wage policy would deliver a pay rise to more than 250,000 Welsh workers, and would be an important step towards making Wales a high-value, high-quality business location.
“At the moment, an estimated 25 per cent of employees are paid below the living wage. That means that they don’t earn enough to live on and despite being in work, are still reliant on benefits.”
