PLANS to improve services for disabled children, young people, their families and carers in Caerphilly county borough have moved a step closer.
Provisions are being carried out using an inter-agency approach across a variety of organisations, departments and settings.
But new proposals could see an integrated approach to the way these services are delivered. It would mean health services, education, social care and third sector services would come together using the Caerphilly Children’s Centre in Energlyn as the hub for services.
Key partners have already held development workshops to scope the potential to develop integrated services, and all parties have “positively received these proposals”, the council said. Consultation with children, young people, parents and carers will take place to ensure the system meets the needs of those it aims to serve.
Members of Caerphilly council’s health social care and wellbeing scrutiny committee endorsed the proposals during a meeting last week.
Cllr Robin Woodyatt, Caerphilly council’s cabinet member for social services, said: “I welcome these proposals that allow key partner agencies to develop a truly integrated service for disabled children and young people here in the county borough.”
