NEWPORT council is starting the search for an inaugural board of trustees who will run a new leisure services body in Newport.

From next April, Newport council’s sport and leisure facilities will be delivered by a Not for Profit Distributing Organisation (NPDO).

The establishment of an NPDO is a long-term solution to help the council more cost-effectively deliver sport and leisure services due to on-going budget pressures.

The NPDO will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of the leisure services.

The council currently operates first class sport and leisure facilities in the city that have a positive impact in the community improving the health and wellbeing of individuals. This new body will maintain these high standards and will be tasked with delivering these services to all Newport residents on behalf of the council.

The council is looking to recruit 11 trustees to be appointed. For a recruitment pack visit newport.gov.uk/trustee and for an informal discussion contact Steve, on 01633 656656 or email steve.ward@newport.gov.uk
