OFFICERS from Gwent Police's Operation Resolute team have recovered approximately £2000 of suspected stolen property, including make-up, dog leads and tools.
A search warrant was executed for an address in Alway on Tuesday September 16 in John Ireland Close.
Five people from the Alway area were arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen goods and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
A police spokeswoman said: "It is believed items may have been stolen from stores in the Newport and Monmouth areas and possibly outside of the Gwent Police Force area. It’s also possible that some items were stolen from individuals.
"Anyone with who recognises any of the items recovered or has any information that could help officers is asked to call Gwent Police on 101 quoting 140034582."
The arrests were part of Operation Resolute, a Gwent wide operation made up of forty officers who are targeting the small number of offenders who commit the most crime.
