A MOTORBIKE worth £3,000 was stolen from Newport station by thieves who simply loaded it into a Ford Transit van, police believe.

British Transport Police are investigating the theft which happened shortly before 2.30pm on Monday, 1 September..

The red Yamaha YBR125 WA, with the number plate CP11 DFE, was loaded into a white Ford Transit van in the station’s car park PC Jason Thomas said: “The bike was left in the car park at 6am.

“We believe the thieves stole it by loading it into the back of a van.

“After studying CCTV from the station, I have issued an image of a man I believe has information about this theft.”

Officers are also issuing images of the van which they believe was used in the theft.

It may also have been used in an attempted burglary at the Pontymister industrial estate in Risca on Monday, 23 September.

PC Thomas said: “The number plates are not visible on the CCTV images, but the van had the letters ACAB on its roof.
