CHANGES to the A4043 St Lukes Road in Pontnewynydd are due to start at the end of this month for approximately six weeks.

It includes the realignment of a section of the A4043 and improvement of the junctions at Pentrepiod Road and Hanbury Road.

A second scheme on Osbourne Road (between George Street and Merchants Hill junctions) is due to start in the new year and will upgrade the existing pelican crossing to a toucan crossing for cyclists and other users.

The council has funding from Welsh Government for the two schemes which need to be completed by the end of this financial year.

While everything will be done to keep traffic flowing as freely as possible, the works are likely to cause disruption, the council has said.
