PLAID Cymru AM Lindsay Whittle read a poem at the grave of the famous Welsh poet Hedd Wyn in Flanders.
The South Wales East AM from Caerphilly was among representatives from the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly that paid a visit to Belgium to commemorate the British and Irish sacrifices in the First World War.
Lindsay Whittle described the visit as "very moving".
Hedd Wyn was killed during the Battle of Passchendaele in World War I. He was posthumously awarded the bard's chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod.
