A MAN was rescued by firefighters from the riverbank in Abertillery today.
Specialist line rescue crews used rope rescue equipment to retrieve the injured man from the riverbank on Upper Arrael Street in Abertillery at 2.35am.
The man was conscious but had a head injury. Paramedics were at the scene and transferred the man to Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.
Fire crews from Ebbw Vale, Malpas and Abertillery were in attendance and left the scene at 4.20am.
