A DRIVER has been arrested after a pedestrian suffered life threatening injuries last night.
Gwent Police said the serious incident happened on the A472 between Pontypool and Hafodyrynys at around 11.10pm.
The driver of a Seat Ibiza has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
In a statement, police said: "A Seat Ibiza was in collision with a male pedestrian which resulted in the pedestrian receiving life threatening injuries.
"The driver of the Seat Ibiza has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remains in custody at this time."
The road was closed for a period while specialist officers examined the scene but it has since been reopened.
