UPDATE: 7.04pm

Gwent Police were called to the scene at 5.23pm where they remain.

The two people injured are said to be a man and a woman both in their seventies.

The woman is said to be the driver of the car.

Both have now been released from the car and have been taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

The extent of their injuries is not yet known but a Gwent Police spokesman has said they are currently investigating the cause of the crash which they are treating as a serious road traffic collision.

The Lighthouse Road is closed in both directions from Morgan Way and Ty Mawr Farm.

The Welsh Ambulance Service was also in attendance at 5.25pm arriving at the scene with two rapid response vehicles and a crew.

 

 

TWO people were trapped in their car as it turned on its side during a one vehicle collision in the St Brides Wentlooge area.

South Wales Fire and Rescue crews were called to the scene at Beach Road, with two engines, rescue tender and an officer at 5.28pm.

Two people in the car were trapped but crews have managed to release on person from the car and a second person is currently being released by fire crews.
