PEOPLE from Wales who live in other parts of the UK and the world have a key role to play in promoting the land of their birth, says Welsh Secretary Stephen Crabb.

Urging the Welsh diaspora to promote Wales around the world, Mr Crabb told an audience of business people at the London Welsh RFC Business Club in Oxford, that it is a vital partner in spreading the word.

He said the NATO Summit in Newport, the International Investment Summit and Wales’ role in the technology and aerospace sectors are proof the Welsh economy has changed markedly in recent years.

"Much of this success is home grown, but those in the Welsh diaspora who have helped shape London and have made their mark in business outside Wales, have a key role in promoting Wales throughout the UK and the rest of the world," he said.

"In sharing and celebrating our success, we can help bring in more investment to Wales to create jobs, increase growth, and boost the economy."

Mr Crabb also paid tribute to Wales’ rugby stars and sporting personalities who help raise the nation's profile.
