CIDER producers are preparing to return to Caldicot Castle for the annual Welsh Cider and Perry Festival in May.

Last year’s event attracted 2,500 visitors to the four day event which will play host to over 90 different real ciders and perrys, as well as live music, food stalls, a Medieval family fun day and the Welsh Cider and Perry Championship.

Early bird tickets are now on sale for the event, which is held over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Among this year’s highlights are live performances from 4th Street Traffic, who will open the festival on the Friday night, and Saturday’s headline act Skimmity Hitchers. The line-up also features singer-songwriter Ragsy, Blackwood band the Bleedin’ Noses, the James Clode Band and The Bakestones.

Chairwoman of the Welsh Perry and Cider Society, Ann Hallett said: “We are really proud of the way the festival has grown and the support that people have for the craft cider industry. “

She added: “It really is a great way to spend the bank holiday weekend, as the festival accommodates music lovers, cider fans, foodies and families alike.”

Camping will be available on site allowing visitors to stay for the four days of the festival.

The festival takes place between May 22 and 25.
