AN anonymous caller left police an answerphone message claiming to have information about slavery in Gwent, but did not leave any details.
Now officers are appealing for the caller to come forward and “help bring vulnerable victims to safety”.
Detective Superintendent Paul Griffiths received a short voicemail on Wednesday morning this week which indicated the person knew something which could help the Operation Imperial team investigating slavery and forced labour in Gwent.
Det Supt Paul Griffiths said: “I’m personally appealing to the individual to make contact with us again as clearly they have significant information which is vital to our on-going investigations. If the caller would prefer not to speak to the police, they can also pass on any information anonymously via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
"Either way I would urge you to pick up the phone as you could help us with our aim of bringing vulnerable victims to safety.”
