TREDEGAR showed its support for Armed Forces Day for the sixth year in a row as over 450 people turn out to the event at Bedwellty House and Park.

Despite the weather, a large crowd gathered to support the event organised by Tredegar Town Council, today.

A parade started at the Masonic Hall at 2.45pm before a service at the bandstand at 3pm.

There were performances by the Regimental Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Welsh.

Elsewhere in the house and grounds were activities including archery and welly wanging.

Attending the event was the Mayor of Tredegar, cllr Ryan Watkins, the AM Alun Davies and MP Nick Smith.

The town clerk, Christine Keane, said: “We were very worried about how the weather would affect the turn out but we are very pleased.

“It was a fun day for all the family- it really was a great day.”

This year the event raised money for the charity, Wales Homes for Veterans, and it is hoped to have raised £500- with the final figure being released later in the week.
