A TIME-LAPSE video has been made showing how vacant blocks of flats in Ringland were torn down.

The two buildings at 129-144 Ringland and 57-86 Cot Farm Circle took eight weeks to demolish and produced 6,000 tonnes of rubble.

To celebrate the completion of demolition, the tenant, housing association Newport City Homes (NCH) has released the video showing how the project progressed.

The work was done by NCH contractor, the Walters Group and saw the removal of 100 tonnes of general waste, 750 tonnes of soil and 6,000 tonnes of rubble with 99.99% of the waste being recycled.

Regeneration Officer at NCH, Solitaire Pritchard said: “We are delighted that everything has gone as planned and would like to thank residents and the community for their support during the works.”

There are no immediate plans for the site and NCH will be consulting residents in the near future.
