A MAN charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing has been remanded in custody following a hearing today.

Gwilym Edwards, 25, appeared in custody before Newport Magistrates' Court charged with one count of assault by beating, one charge of making threats to kill and a further count of attempted murder.

Edwards was charged following an incident on Park View, Bargoed, on Sunday evening.

Edwards, of Coronation Buildings, Cwmfelinfach, was remanded in custody to appear at Newport Crown Court on September 4.

A MAN is due in court today charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Bargoed.

The 25-year-old from Cwmfelinfach also faces charges of assault by beating and making threats to kill.

This followed and incident on Park View at 8pm on Sunday allegedly involving two men, police said.

A 40-year-old man from the Bargoed area was taken to Prince Charles hospital where he remains in a stable condition, a police spokesman said.

A 25-year-old man from Bargoed was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, he has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
