SPORTS Direct has created 39 jobs with a shop in Newport that opened this week.
The new shop, in the 23,000 square feet former Marks and Spencer building on Commercial Street, also includes a new gym.
A spokesman for SportsDirect spokesman said: “We offer something for everybody and we’re very proud to open such great facilities in a location like Newport centre.
“As we continue to grow throughout the UK, our ethos remains the same.
"Our customers get the biggest brands in all types of sportswear, footwear and sports equipment as well as top fitness facilities at our famously low prices.”
SportsDirect.com is the UK’s largest sporting retailer with more than 400 stores nationwide.
The company was founded in 1982 and offers clothes, footwear and equipment for sports such as running, outdoor, football and golf.
