A ROGERSTONE schoolgirl has raised almost £500 after having her long hair cut off.

Ten-year-old Isabella Jones had 25 centimetres of locks chopped off in support of Cancer Research UK.

Isabella raised £480, of which £200 was donated by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey South Wales.

Her hair will now be donated to the Little Princess Trust and made into a wig for children who have lost their own hair through chemotherapy.

Mum Susan Jones said: “Bella has been keen to raise money for charity for some time now, and it was her friend Sophie Trott who came up with the idea to donate to Little Princess Trust.

“She wanted to raise money because her great aunt Julie has suffered from cancer for a long time, and we have unfortunately lost some special people to the disease, including our daughter-in-law and Bella’s uncle’s god-daughter, who died aged ten last year.”

“Isabella had nervous excitement on the morning of her haircut, I was thrilled with her reaction once her hair had been cut, she loves it and so do her family and friends”.

The sponsorship came about after Isabella and her family recently moved into a new home at Taylor Wimpey’s Tregwilym Gate development.

Mrs Jones added: “We are very grateful for Taylor Wimpey’s support and kind generosity. Bella has always raised money by helping out at events organised by our local school’s PTA, but she’s never taken part in anything like this before.”

“We hope now that Bella’s actions will increase awareness and help others to not lose special people in their lives in the future.”
