PUPILS from Rougemont Prep School completed a sponsored walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care yesterday.

Children from Year 6 finished the three-mile walk from the school to the Roman Amphitheatre in Caerleon at lunchtime, when they met up with the infant children for a picnic.

On their return to the school grounds, pupils were greeted by the nursery class, who had completed their own version of the walk in school.

The organisation of the walk was inspired by a group of junior teachers from Rougemont, who took part in the Gower Macmarathon earlier this year.

The staff completed either a 22-mile walk from Rossili to Mumbles, or a 14 mile walk from Port Eynon to Mumbles.

The school’s fundraising for Macmillan does not stop there, with an infant coffee morning and a junior afternoon tea to be held on Friday October 23.

It will be on this date that the school will be able to reveal just how much their mammoth efforts have raised for the cancer charity.

Bron Afon community housing are working with the school to cater for the event and also to bring 30 visitors into school.
