DEVELOPERS say work on Newport's new bus station in Friars Walk has been completed - but an official opening date is still outstanding.

The station at the long-awaited development was originally due to open on November 15 but was pushed back as it was not complete.

Martin Tresidder, project director for Friars Walk, said earlier this month they were working with their main contractor Bowmer and Kirkland to get the bus station finished and opened at the end of the month.

Developers Queensberry said this afternoon that all the work had now been completed at the station.

Newport council said they were awaiting a formal handover date for the new bus station from the developers and would issue a formal opening date when it was able to.

Newport Bus said they have not been informed of an opening date by Newport council.

The new bus station will have 15 bays - 10 bays provided for Newport Transport, one for National Express, three for Stagecoach and one for NAT (New Adventure Travel).

Newport Bus also has stands at Market Square.
