A DOCTOR who will go on trial with a colleague tomorrow, accused of the manslaughter of a 12-year-old patient from Gwent, now faces a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

GPs Joanne Rudling, 46, of Blackberry Way, Pontprennau, Cardiff, and Lindsey Thomas, 42, of Copper Beech Drive, Tredegar, have each pleaded not guilty to the unlawful killing by gross negligence of Ryan Morse, from Brynithel, in December 2012.

Dr Rudling today also pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice on the morning of December 10 2012, by making an entry into Ryan’s medical notes which she knew to be “materially false.”

The charge alleges that the note was “purported to have been made on December 7, 2012” and did not correctly record information given by Ryan's mother during a telephone consultation.

Rudling and Thomas, who both worked at the Abernant Surgery in Abertillery at the time of Ryan's death, were given unconditional bail.

The trial is expected to last for four weeks.
