THE woman who died following a road traffic collision with a bus in Cardiff city centre has been named as Joan Davies.

Mrs Davies, 83, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, after the collision which happened outside the Hilton hotel on Tuesday last week.

Mrs Davies’ family has issued the following the statement: “Joan, 83, was a mother, grandmother and recently a great grandmother.

"Originally from Newport, Joan spent many happy years with her husband, Glyn, in Bigbury Devon before returning to live near her family.

"She was an immensely independent and energetic lady who loved walking and animals.

"She frequently visited her favourite places where she’d be seen walking, feeding the ducks and enjoying the sunshine.

"She will be missed but remember by her friends and family.”

A 50-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless and inconsiderate driving and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
