UPDATE 11.50am: Services between Newport and Cardiff are now returning to normal.
TRAINS between Newport and Cardiff are currently going extra slow because of animals on the line.
Arriva Trains Wales said cows have wandered onto the line at Rhymney river bridge, east of Cardiff.
Further along the line in Marshfield, sheep were reported to be blocking the line.
A spokesman for Arriva Trains Wales said just before 11am this morning the sheep were cleared but the cows are still causing problems.
He said staff are on the line and working to clear the animals and find out how they got there.
Train services are currently under caution meaning trains move a lot slower.
One train user did not seem to mind to delay. He tweeted:
Probably did more work on the train than I've done all week. Thanks, animals who wandered onto the line and made it even longer!
