THE remaining travellers at Newport International Sports Village (NISV) will have left the site by tomorrow morning, Newport Live has said.

Eight caravans left the Spytty sports complex after legal proceedings were started to remove them on Monday.

As the Argus previously reported a large group arrived on the site last Friday - as Team GB's Olympic cyclists began their pre-Rio training camp at the site's Velodrome - despite having been turfed out once already just days before.

The chief executive of Newport Live - who operate NISV - has now said court documents which will enable them to evict the remaining group go live at 11.50am tomorrow.

Should they still be there then, they will be banned from the site for 12 months, with staff legally allowed to evict them.

Steve Ward said he believed they would either leave tonight or early tomorrow morning.

“Most of the travellers have left but there are four vans that are still there," said Mr Ward.

“They [the travellers] normally leave the night before.

“I fully expect them to leave tonight or tomorrow morning before 11.50am.”

Mr Ward also said that the travellers had caused no problems throughout their stay.
