AN up-and-coming fashion designer from Newport has designed a range of designer vintage dresses for charity Tŷ Hafan.

Bethany Picton, from Langstone in Newport, used to work as deputy assistant shop manager at the charity's boutique Emporium store in Abergavenny.

Inspired by her love of vintage clothing, the 24-year-old graduate of the London College of Fashion has designed a range of 50s-style dresses for the charity's Emporium store in Abergavenny.

Ms Picton said: “Since learning about the wonderful care and services Tŷ Hafan provides to so many life-limited children and their families, I have strived to be actively involved with the charity’s fantastic work.

“Whilst working in the sort room at the charity's Abergavenny shop, my ideas started to take shape. I adore vintage fashion and I was fascinated by the vast amount of unique pieces that were being donated to the store.”

Bethany has designed two 50s-inspired dresses, in a range of colours, which will be available to buy from Tŷ Hafan’s Emporium store in Cardiff’s Royal Arcade following a launch earlier this month.

“My designs reflect the nostalgic glamour of Tŷ Hafan’s Emporium store as they encapsulate a beautiful vintage aesthetic, unlike any other charity store I have ventured into,” said Ms Picton.

“I am delighted to have launched the ‘Bethany Picton’ label, which has proudly been made in Wales as well as to give back to a wonderful Welsh charity. I hope the public love the dresses as much as I do and they help to raise much-needed funds for Tŷ Hafan.”

Tŷ Hafan’s 31 charity shops raise around a third of the income needed by the charity to provide its services to life-limited children and their families. The three Emporium stores in Cardiff, Abergavenny and Cowbridge are boutique-style stores selling high-quality, vintage items at affordable prices.
