A MAN was seriously injured last night when in a crash on the M4 at Newport.
The 25-year-old driver was involved in the single vehicle collision while travelling eastbound between junctions 28 (Tredegar Park) and 27 (High Cross), at around 8.45pm.
Police and firefighters attended the incident, the latter giving oxygen and emergency trauma care to the driver, and also stabilising the vehicle.
The man was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital with what Gwent Police describe as "serious injuries."
The motorway was closed between these junctions for more than an hour, with eastbound traffic diverted off at junction 28.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to telephone Gwent Police on 101, quoting log number 568 of 27/08/16.
