A YELLOW weather has been issued across Gwent as large clouds of thick fog engulfed parts of Wales.
The warning was issued by the Met Office at 3.45pm this afternoon and will be in effect until 10am tomorrow morning.
The warning affects Newport, Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent.
Patches of fog which have not cleared in some areas during the day will become thicker and more extensive this evening.
Dense, freezing fog will then affect some parts of Gwent through the rest of the night.
Drivers are being urged to be aware of tricky road travel conditions.
The Chief Foreceaster's assessment reads: "With little cloud and practically no wind, fog looks like thickening up pretty quickly this evening across parts of the warning area.
"The advance of cloud from the Midlands may help clear the fog before morning across the north and east of the area, although this aspect is uncertain."
