A NEW pet rehoming and advice centre in Newport has rehomed its first dog.
Audrey, an eight-year-old lurcher, was one of the first dogs to arrive at the Blue Cross centre in Willenhall Street, Lliswerry - which opened less than a month ago and is the charity’s first rehoming and advice centre in Wales.
Karen Talbot saw Newport's Blue Cross Facebook appeal for coats to keep Audrey warm and sent in all the coats which had belonged to her lurcher who had recently passed away. She had already fallen in love with Audrey by that point, and drove all the way from Southampton to meet her.
Ms Talbot said: “When we saw Audrey on the website, it was love at first sight and we just couldn’t wait to meet her. She’s such a gorgeous girl and we’re really happy we were able to offer her a home. She’s the perfect companion for our three whippets too and they’re all enjoying getting to know each other.”
Hannah Wiltshire, Blue Cross Rehoming Manager, said: “Audrey is such a lovely girl and we were so happy be able to send her off to such a fantastic new home so quickly.”
