AN OLYMPIC silver medallist visited a Newport high school to offer some inspiration.
British Olympic athlete Lutalo Muhammad visited Lliswerry High School yesterday to learn more about students’ community work over the summer.
Year 10 and 11 pupils were involved in ‘Get Set for Community Action’, a programme which celebrated the Rio 2016 Games.
With help from Newport City Homes, the facilitator for Newport, Lliswerry High students arranged three projects in the summer months.
Students worked alongside the housing association to provide samba-drumming lessons for residents of Newport City Homes’ sheltered scheme Milton Court, and year five pupils from Lliswerry Primary School and St Andrews Primary School.
Taekwondo athlete Lutalo Muhammad watched a samba-drumming performance by the students, and attended their sports-themed assembly.
