GWENT Police have issued a fresh appeal for information following the death of 41-year-old Jan Jedrzejewski on Thursday January 12.

Officers are interested in speaking to a man who shined a torch - possibly on his phone - on Mr Jedrzejewski while an ambulance was on route.

Superintendent Glyn Fernquest said: “We’d like to speak to this man who could help with our investigations, and would like to reassure him if he’s reading this that he is not in any trouble.

"Support from the local community is key to our enquiries and I would like to thank members of the public for their help so far in providing vital information about this incident."

Four people appeared in court yesterday accused of murder, following the death of Mr Jedrzejewski at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

He had earlier been found unconscious in Keene Street.

Richard Wallis, 43, of Keene Street, and 18-year-olds Callum Banton and Shaquille Crosdale, both of Fleetwood Close, appeared via a video link at Cardiff Crown Court for the hearing.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named, was present in court. None of the individuals have yet entered a plea.
