NO DECISION will be made on the long-awaited Circuit of Wales in Ebbw Vale until at least May, the Welsh Government’s economy secretary Ken Skates has said.

A revised bid for the project, which has been turned down twice over concerns around the amount of public investment required, was submitted in February after the Labour secretary imposed a two-week deadline on the project team.

But, speaking in the Senedd yesterday, Wednesday, Mr Skates said the developers were not able to provide some information until last week.

“It’s also regrettable that the information is currently incomplete,” he said.

“However, my officials and the appointed external advisors have commenced the due diligence process on the basis of the information provided, and of course subject to the company responding in a timely manner to any further enquiries.

“We then expect to able to report to cabinet by mid-May."
