A TOUCH of Hollywood came to a Newport school, as pupils watched the premiere of their very own film.

Year 9 pupils at Lliswerry High School have been working on the project to make their own animation film since January, with Newport film-maker Glen Biseker from Winding Snake Productions and script writer Nigel Crowle.

Yesterday, pupils saw themselves on screen as the seven-and-a-half minute animation, Now We’re Talking, was shown at the school.

Sally James-Williams, head of performing arts at the school, said the project had helped students’ public speaking skills.

“I wanted the students to learn new skills, but in a fun and exciting way,” she said.

“They’ve really grown in confidence when speaking in public.”

The school intends to show the film on its website
