A FURIOUS car business owner says he is counting the cost of damage done to a number of vehicles after they were targeted by a vandal.

Kyran Champion, from Cwmbran, says he found serious damage had been done to a number of his cars at Champion Motor Trade, in the Springvale Industrial Estate, this week.

Mr Champion says a paint and varnish stripping chemical was thrown on three cars, and he is now warning others to be vigilant in the area.

He said: “I was at a Volkswagen show in Caldicot all weekend and took a few of my vehicles to display.

“I came back to Cwmbran late on Sunday evening and left the estate at 10pm when I locked up.

“When I came in at 8am the next morning I discovered paint peeling off vehicles.

“As soon I saw it I looked on CCTV and found a man had turned up, checked the place out, and then thrown Nitromors all over them.”

He added: “This paint stripper is easy to get hold of, but the stuff is lethal.

“I started this business a year ago, and this has really affected me. The vehicles damaged were an investment and it means my business has gone back a few steps.

“I can’t sell them until they are repaired.

“I would urge other business and car owners to be vigilant and keep an eye out. Have security in place.”

Gwent Police said that they are currently investigating the incident.

A spokeswoman said: “At 12.25am on Monday July 24, three vehicles were damaged following an incident at Springfield Industrial Estate in Cwmbran.

“Officers are investigating and ask if anyone who saw the incident or has any information is asked to call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log number 201 24/07/17.
