A JEWELLER in Newport has re-opened its doors after relocating to the first floor of the Tesco in Spytty retail park.

Cross Jewellery was in the High Street until 2005, when it closed due to changes in the area.

Jeweller Peter Cross said: “My wife Reema and mother-in-law Shobha run Jasmine’s - a boutique store selling handbags and accessories on the first floor of Tesco.

“One day I was covering a shift in Jasmine’s, and a gentleman came into the shop and asked me to make some jewellery for him.

“We don’t sell any jewellery in the shop, so I was a bit perplexed at first. The gentleman had recognised me from our old store and knew that I could make the jewellery for him.

“That is how Cross Jewellery was reborn.”

He said they have split Jasmine’s into two, with Cross Jewellery selling fine jewellery, including diamonds, gold and custom wedding and engagement rings.
