AS PART of our campaign to help Newport County AFC attract 5,000 fans to Rodney Parade this weekend, we are looking for a mascot.

This Saturday, Newport County AFC will play Chesterfield in their first home game of the season and their first match on the new pitch at Rodney Parade.

The team, which gave us the fantastic ‘Great Escape’ finale to last season, beat Coventry 1-0 away in their last outing, on Saturday.

We are working with the club on a week-long campaign to get 5,000 supporters to fill the stands.

Argus editor Nicole Garnon said: “We are delighted to get behind Newport County AFC. There is some great work going on and we are happy to help promote that.”

As part of this, we are offering a youngster between five and 14 the chance to be a players’ mascot, alongside club mascot Spytty the Dog.

Newport County AFC will provide tickets for them and three family members to watch the match.
