A TEAM of staff at the Royal Gwent Hospital are planning on taking on an assault course for charity.
The 19 brave volunteers, who are nurses, doctors and a paramedic in the A and E department, have entered Cardiff's Survival of the Fittest event in Cardiff Bay later this month.
They will cover 50 obstacles over 10km in aid of The UK Sepsis Trust.
Donna Bielski, sister and clinical lead of resuscitation in A&E , said: “We are a mixed team of ages and fitness levels but we will start as a team and finish as a team. It's our work ethic to pull together and push each other as we do every day in the department.
“One of our consultants helped someone on a previous assault course challenge and relocated a dislocated shoulder on the route. As professionals we are bound by codes and that means stopping to help if anyone is in need which is great for other runners. If we hurt ourselves we will fix us too.
“We start at 11.30am if anyone would like to come and support us that would be great.”
The event will take place on Sunday, September 24.
