A WOMAN who was allegedly assaulted in a coffee shop at Newport railway station is being urged to come forward.

British Transport Police said a man threw a drink over the woman as she sat in the coffee shop at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The woman left the station, and now officers would like to speak to her about the incident.

Officers believe the woman is between 50 and 60-years-old.

A 32-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and is currently in police custody helping officers with their inquiries.
